Melodic Moments on the Thessaloniki Metroto celebrate World Music Day

Aiming at celebrating World Music Day, ELLINIKO METRO S.A. organized a special musical event for passengers on the Thessaloniki Metro System, offering a delightful and unexpected artistic experience, as part of the city’s daily life.

At noon on Sunday, June 21st, at AGHIA SOFIA Station, members of the MOYSA Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall treated Thessaloniki Metro riders to a musical experience, creating a special atmosphere in the Station area and transforming their commute into a cultural experience.

Passengers at the station had the pleasure of enjoying two remarkable compositions: “Canon in D major”, P.37, by Johann Pachelbel and “Hidden views” by Kyriakos Kalaitzidis, in a musical encounter where classical music engages with contemporary Greek composition, set in a unique public space in the heart of Thessaloniki.

This initiative by ELLINIKO METRO S.A. is in full alignment with the Company’s philosophy of a Metro System that not only serves the transportation needs of citizens but also functions as a vibrant part of the city, open to cultural events, extroversion, and creative engagement with the public.

ELLINIKO METRO S.A. extends its warmest thanks to the members of MOYSA and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall for their cooperation and contribution to the success of this wonderful event, which added a special touch to World Music Day and offered a unique musical interlude to passengers on the Thessaloniki Metro.
