Senior officials of the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) visited the premises of ELLINIKO METRO S.A. in Thessaloniki on June 16th, 2026.
More precisely, European Commission senior executives, Mr. Nicola de Michelis, Deputy Director-General for Programme Implementation, and Mr. Konstantinos Niafas, Programme Manager for Greece and Cyprus, visited the offices of the company and the Operations Control Center in Pylea Depot.
During the visit, the CEO of ELLINIKO METRO S.A., Mr. Christos Fafoutis, presented the progress and the planning of the Metro projects in Athens and Thessaloniki emphasizing on the contribution of the European funds in the implementation of infrastructure projects. Mr. Dimitris Pallas, Manager of the Special Service for the Management of the “Transport 2021-2027” Programme, also participated in the subject visit.
