Focusing on major infrastructure projects that shape the future of urban transportation in Greece, on May 19, 2026, ELLINIKO METRO S.A. hosted a high-level meeting at its headquarters in Athens, as part of the international event “French Railway Days in Greece”.
The Company’s CEO, Mr. Christos Fafoutis, presented the extensive Metro Development Program in Athens and Thessaloniki to representatives of the French Embassy and Leading International Companies in the fields of infrastructure, railway technology and project financing.
Special emphasis was placed on the construction of the new Line 4 of the Athens Metro System, the most significant public works project currently underway in our country, the extensions of the existing lines of the Metro System, as well as the new technologies that are being implemented, such as fully automated driverless systems and the BIM (Building Information Modeling).
Concurrently, presentations were given on the successful operation of the Thessaloniki Metro System, the progress of the Extension to Kalamaria, as well as the strategic planning of new extensions, which will enhance sustainable mobility and improve substantially the daily lives of citizens. Mr. Fafoutis highlighted that ELLINIKO METRO S.A., leveraging its expertise, innovation and modern design practices, implements projects with a strong social, environmental, and developmental footprint, contributing, thus, to the establishment of modern, safe, and citizen-friendly cities.
