Further to publications in the press regarding an incident of water accumulation in a building located on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue that correlate it with the execution of the works for the construction of the Athens Metro Line 4, ELLINIKO METRO S.A. wishes to clarify the following:
1. ELLINIKO METRO S.A. has received no request whatsoever for conducting an on-site inspection to any building located in the said area concerning the specific incident. Moreover, there has been no engineer of ELLINIKO METRO S.A. who has conducted a pertinent inspection to any building located on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
2. The works for the boring of Line 4 tunnel at the section extending from Katehaki to Evangelismos section were completed in February 2026 when the Tunnel Boring Machine “Athina” reached Evangelismos Shaft. Currently, the only works executed in the area concern the concreting of KOLONAKI Station and a small-scale excavation at the blast shaft.
3. In the framework of the monitoring of the project in the area, piezometers have been installed recording on a systematic basis groundwater pressure and the respective piezometer groundwater level at their installation location. According to the monitoring data, piezometers have recorded no increase whatsoever in the groundwater level.
Therefore, ELLINIKO METRO S.A. hereby clarifies that the incident referred to in the corresponding publications in the press is not connected with the construction works of the Athens Metro Line 4.
