Today, during the meeting held at the Premises of Thessaloniki Metro,Mr. Stratos Simopoulos, Secretary General of Public Works, <\/strong>informed Thessaloniki business, trade, handicraft and professionals associations about the issue related to the archaeological finds in VENIZELOU Station.<\/p>\n

Mr. Simopoulos presented in detail the effort that ATTIKO METRO S.A. has made during the last three months, in view of finding a solution for the archeological finds to remain in the Station; however, further to a profound investigation, this proved to be technically unfeasible<\/b>. This is the reason why the Central Archaeological Council (CAC) made the unanimous decision to detach and transfer the finds to the former military camp \u201cPAVLOS MELAS\u201d or to another suitable area, for the archaeological finds to be revealed and to constitute a point of attraction <\/b>for thousands of Greek and Foreign visitors.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Mr. Konstantinos Zervas, Deputy Mayor of Thessaloniki for issues related to Quality of Life and Member of ATTIKO METRO S.A. BoD, <\/strong>pointed out that the citizens of Thessaloniki, showing due respect for their past, while striving to safeguard their present and future, are demanding the completion of this Major Project.<\/p>\n

All business, trade, handicraft and professionals associations of Thessaloniki requested that all related procedures be expedited, and that the city of Thessaloniki be not involved into any new \u201cdivisive\u201d dispute and adventures, which could cause irreparable damage to the Metro Project, so much needed by the city.<\/p>\n

The Chair-persons and representatives of the following associations participated in the meeting, namely: Technical Chamber of Greece \u2013 Section of Central Macedonia, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki Chamber of Professionals, Thessaloniki Handicraft Association, Exporters Associations of Northern Greece, Thessaloniki Traders Association, Thessaloniki Prefecture Traders Federation, Thessaloniki Hotel Owners Association.<\/p>\n
