(\u0391\u039c) delivered today to the public one new extension of Line 3, running over a total length of 1.4 Km from Egaleo Station to Aghia Marina Station (Aghia Varvara Municipality). In the framework of the same contract, the Transfer Station \/ Car Park Facility was concurrently constructed; the capacity of the car park facility is 382 parking places and it will be delivered to public use in the immediate future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">\u201cAghia Marina\u201d Metro Station is located within the building block surrounded by Iera Odos, Krinis street, Katsarou street and Aghias Marina street, has with two entrances \/ exits on each side of Iera Odos and is to be opened for use by the public on <b>Saturday, December 14, 2013<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">In the framework of the same contract, Eleonas Depot was also constructed, a project absolutely essential to the operation of the entire Line 3, covering a total area of 86,000 m<sup>2<\/sup>, which is already in operation serving the Metro network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">Apart from Mr. Christos Tsitouras, ATTIKO METRO S.A. Chairman and Managing Director, the project\u2019s final trial run was also attended by Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos, Deputy Minister of Infrastructures, Transport and Networks, Mr. Giorgos Kaplanis, Mayor of Aghia Varvara Municipality, Mr. Christos Kardaras, Mayor of Egaleo Municipality, Mr. Dimitris Maravelias, Mayor of Haidari Municipality, Mr. Nikolaos Papathanasis, STASY S.A. Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Grigoris Dimitriadis, OASA Chairman and Managing Director and Mr. Heraklis Droulias OSK Chairman and Managing Director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">On the occasion of the project\u2019s delivery Mr. Christos Tsitouras said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">\u201cThis extension to yet another area of the Western Suburbs completes an investment of approximately \u20ac 250 million and was funded both by National and EU funds, as well as by favorable low-interest loans received from the EIB. This project will contribute to the substantial upgrade of the transport services rendered to the residents of the affected municipalities by offering fast and safe trips, as well as to the overall upgrade of the subject areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">A total of 30,000 passenger shall be served on a daily basis, while the daily ridership of the Line 3 section from Aghia Marina to Monastiraki may very well exceed 100,000 passengers. The trip time from Syntagma to Aghia Marina shall be 8 minutes, while this extension is expected to serve the wider area encompassing Egaleo, Haidari and Aghia Varvara, and in particular the Hospital of infectious Diseases, Dromokaitio Hospital, Attiko Hospital, as well as the commercial enterprises in the area.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">It is also stressed that the Central Intercity Bus Terminal is to be constructed within the area of Eleonas Depot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">The commissioning of Aghia Marina Metro Station in 2013 completes the handing over to the public of seven stations in total within this year, i.e. Peristeri and Anthoupoli Stations on April 5, Ilioupoli, Alimos, Argyroupoli, Elliniko on July 15, 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">Pursuing its construction activities, ATTIKO METRO S.A. is currently constructing the extension of Line 3 to Piraeus, i.e. 7.6 Km of tunnels and 6 stations, as well as the Tramway extension from SEF to the center of Piraeus, i.e. 5.4 Km of single line and 24 stops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\">All the above once again demonstrate and confirm the quality and the usefulness of the work performed by ATTIKO METRO S.A., as well as the company\u2019s ability to produce demanding and difficult projects. Metro projects serve as an instrument of economic development, contributing to the generation of jobs and increase of Greek GNP.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-4781
