In the presence of a sizable crowd, the concert jointly organized by ATTIKO METRO and the University of Macedonia took place today in the premises of PANEPISTIMIO Metro Station currently under construction.<\/p>\n

The first underground level of the station was filled with the sounds of Bach\u2019s music, during a concert that left very good impressions, proving that Metro and Culture can actually coexist. At the same time, more than 500 guests were given a tour of one of most prestigious stations of the network.<\/p>\n

Professor Yiannis Mylopoulos, ATTIKO METRO S.A. Chairman, underlined that<\/b> the Metro worksites in Thessaloniki become vibrant again and the Tunnel Boring Machine will resume its operation after a 4-year pause. As regards the event itself, the Chairman made the following statement: \u201cIn addition to the key role of the Metro in the growth of the city, the Bach concert in PANEPISTIMIO Station also highlights the cultural role that the Metro must and can play. At the same time, this is the best way to welcome the vernal equinox, which also happens to mark the Spring for Thessaloniki Metro Project\u201d. Finally, Mr. Mylopoulos gave the commitment that the new administration of ATTIKO METRO S.A. shall cooperate with all civil and government authorities of the city towards the timely completion of the Metro construction works.<\/p>\n

Mr. Yiannis Boutaris, Mayor of Thessaloniki, said that judging as early as from the two first meetings held among representative of the Municipality, Attiko Metro S.A. and the Ministry of Culture, a solution to the problem of VENIZELOU Station seems probable, adding that things seem to be moving towards a happy ending .<\/p>\n

Attiko Metro S.A. plans to organize even more cultural events in central worksites of the Metro project, in close cooperation with the city authorities.<\/p>\n
