Today, ATTIKO METRO S.A. (AM) delivered Demokratias Square to the residents of the Municipality of Peristeri in the framework of its continuous effort to implement significant re-development projects in areas previously occupied by Metro worksites.<\/p>\n

The new unified Demokratias Square (in the past, two squares crossed by Panagi Tsaldari Street) extends over a surface of 9 square meters with green areas and is embellished with the art work of artist Mr. Moustakas. The new Square is endowed with another particular characteristic, a glass vault of significant dimensions, which allows natural light to reach the two levels of PERISTERI Metro Station.<\/p>\n

During the small ceremony for the delivery of the Square, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, the Chairman of ATTIKO METRO S.A., pointed out: \u201cAs of today, the residents of the municipality of Peristeri shall possess a square \u2013 jewel for the wider area, a small oasis of green and an ideal walking area for families. In 2011, three new Metro stations shall be handed-over to the residents of the western suburbs, namely in Peristeri, Anthoupoli and Aghia Marina (Haidari) for comfortable, rapid and safe journeys in Attica Basin\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Mayor of Peristeri, Mr. Andreas Pachatouridis thanked, in his turn, ATTIKO METRO A.E. for its contribution towards the essential upgrading of the Municipality of Peristeri both through the construction of AGHIOS ANTONIOS, PERISTERI and ANTHOUPOLI Stations, as well as through the significant re-development projects executed along the Metro line.<\/p>\n
