Mr. George Karayiannis, Secretary General of Infrastructures, visited today the worksites of Thessaloniki Metro Project, accompanied by Messrs. Nikolaos Tachiaos Chairman of the BoD of ATTIKO METRO S.A. and Nikolaos Kouretas CEO of ATTIKO METRO S.A..
The guided tour started at VENIZELOU station, where the Secretary General was briefed on the works under execution by Mr. Ioannis Kanonidis, Chief of Thessaloniki Archaeological Department. Further on, Mr. Karayiannis visited AGHIA SOFIA Station – which is under construction – and, at the platform level, he boarded on a special Metro trailing car to inspect the progress of works in the tunnels, as well as the trackwork related works at SINTRIVANI/EXPO, PANEPISTIMIO, PAPAFI, EFKLIDIS, FLEMING and ANALIPSI Stations. During this tour, Mr. Nikolaos Kouretas, CEO of ATTIKO METRO S.A., stressed that: “The Company’s objective is to have the trackwork related works completed by the end of summer”.
At the end of the guided tour, Mr. George Karayiannis, Secretary General of Infrastructures, expressed his satisfaction about the progress of works, stating as follows: “Today, I visited the Thessaloniki Metro stations under construction, where works progress at a satisfactory pace, in line with the time schedule we have set”.
